Hello and welcome to Joyful Lotus! This venture started
as a meditation I did back in 2011. I had just spent two years in Teach For America teaching in a low income school district in Baton Rouge, LA. Those two years were some of the most challenging and rewarding of my life, but I was ready for a change of pace, so my husband and I came back to our hometown in Illinois to seek a life of peace and fulfillment. As I adjusted to a life of comfort and ease I realized I missed teaching and reaching out to those in need, but I wasn’t quite sure how to do it or what I really wanted to do.

Still feeling lost and confused I ordered a deck of Tarot cards and began asking the Universe for answers. The cards encouraged me to meditate more and to begin a regular yoga practice (something I had aspired to do many times before). Even with the help of these practices I still felt something was missing. I wanted a teacher to help guide me. Finally, after a physically and emotionally painful miscarriage I received my first Reiki attunement from my wonderful yoga teacher and Reiki Master, Nancy Liss

By the time I met my friend and partner, Mina, I was attuned to my second degree of Reiki and dreaming of sharing the same healing practices that helped me in my times of need with others. Thankfully, she shared my vision and the two of us quickly began to manifest our ideas into a reality. Thus, the Joyful Lotus was born in the summer of 2012. I am so excited to say that I offer group and private yoga classes and practice Reiki and Tarot Readings. I also enjoy facilitating a weekly meditation and discussion group. I deeply believe Ghandi’s message that you must be the change you want to see in the world, because the more I practice what I preach the more peaceful and rewarding my life becomes. If you feel stuck in your journey please don’t hesitate to reach out! I would love to help in any way that I can!

Namaste,
Kaycie

Hello and Namaste.

I am joyful to begin on this adventure with my wonderful friend, Kaycie. What is even better is that our passions in Reiki, Tarot, Yoga, and Meditation will be shared with everyone that meets Joyful Lotus. I am ultimately interested in providing healing to everyone I meet. My career has been in Emergency Medical services, as a paramedic, and allowed me to provide a conventional western medicine approach to patients. With Joyful Lotus I am also able to share my talents in Reiki with the community. We are quickly growing and expanding our practice not only with Reiki, but also with other holistic healing methods. As our vision expands with our passions, we will grow into a center for all types of healing. Please join us as we walk this path. I like to envision a spiral. For me the center is Spirit. As I walk and expand my awareness, I have found Reiki, and later Yoga, and even later Meditation. I imagine the more I travel this spiral path more practices of healing will be found. In 2014 I began attending medical school. Soon I will be able to incorporate western medicine into our holistic healing ideal. I am very excited to follow my highest vibration. I cannot wait to meet you on my path!

Update!! February 2015

I am in my second year of medical school and will be finishing my Integrative Selective course. Through these speakers and teachers, I have made some wonderful networks in the Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) field. I am excited to announce that I will be going to Thailand this July, where I will be working hands on in the rural countryside learning and practicing the Eastern healing arts of Thai massage and Thai Chi. This is the first time the entire course has been completely focused in CAM. I feel so fortunate and lucky to be one of the first to attend.

My goals are also developing more into obstetrics. I would really like to see more options for mothers in the birthing process. It is my pleasure to bring these different Western and Eastern healing methods to my patients as a physician.
