Just start low. 2 tiny drops (not droppers) for 4 days. If no results, take 4 tiny drops for 4 days. If no results, take 6 tiny drops for 4 days. Keep upping the dose by 2 drops until you find what works for you. I hate that they say “mg” instead of just measuring by drops! So confusing. I take 6 drops for sleep and it works well. Have been on this dose for about 6 months. I also give 6 drops to my client for vascular dementia and it works wonders! No more sundowners, less confusion, and wonderful SLEEP! So yeah, ignore the bottle directions… just take tiny drops under the tongue and let it sit for 30 seconds then swallow. You CAN’T overdose on it. What did I experience? As was the case for Talansky, my sleep improved almost immediately. Then one day in 1963 a young organic chemist in Israel named Raphael Mechoulam, working at the Weizmann Institute of Science outside Tel Aviv, decided to peer into the plant’s chemical composition. It struck him as odd that even though morphine had been teased from opium in 1805 and cocaine from coca leaves in 1855, scientists had no idea what the principal psychoactive ingredient was in marijuana. “It was just a plant,” says Mechoulam, now 84. “It was a mess, a mélange of unidentified compounds.”
Indeed, hemp oil products have grown out of a market largely devoid of regulations or safety protocols. The state of the CBD industry harks back to the age of elixirs and potions hawked from covered wagons to the awed denizens of pioneer towns. There are no industrywide standards in place to ensure that CBD oils are consistently formulated batch-to-batch. There is no regulatory body screening products for pesticides, heavy metals, solvent residues, and other dangerous contaminants. The laboratories that companies contract to test their CBD products are themselves neither standardized nor consistently regulated. No medical research exists to recommend how much CBD a patient should take, nor is there detailed, reliable documentation of how CBD interacts with most epilepsy medications.
One of the earliest researchers of CBD as an intervention for anxiety is Zuardi. In 1982, Zuardi et al. published a paper examining the effects of cannabidiol on anxiety induced by THC. They also wanted to elucidate whether the attenuation of THC-induced anxiety by CBD resulted from an inhibition of THC or through a distinct anxiolytic mechanism.
This evidence supports the idea that CBD decreases autonomic stress responses (e.g. increased blood pressure, faster heart rate, etc.) associated with stress in animal models. Additionally, the reduction in stress associated with CBD is induced predominantly via its binding to the 5-HT1A receptor sites. Based on the results, we could speculate that CBD may be equally therapeutic in attenuating exaggerated autonomic stress responses in humans.
Because of this classification, it's not easy for researchers to get their hands on the drug. "That's not to say you can't do it, but there are hoops you need to jump through that can be a pain, which may deter researchers from going into this space," Bonn-Miller said. "Relatively speaking, it's a small group of people in the U.S. that do research on cannabinoids in humans."
