"A CBD company may create a CBD oil, test it, and use the test results to create their label," Bonn-Miller says. "The problem is if they never test their product again, or they test it once a year, you have no idea whether each batch is the same as the first one that they used to create the label. The vast majority of companies are not using manufacturing standards that assure product consistency over time. Companies should be testing every batch they make and tossing batches that don't fall within the specs of their label."

Great Article on CBD – Did you learn anything about how the efficacy of the CBC is affected by the source species? e.g. Cannabis vs Hemp. Also, Sativa vs. Indica. All of the referenced studies just state CBC, do you know what is the typical source of CBD used in these type of studies? CBC oil from Hemp is readily and cheaply available on the internet from many companies, however I have read that the efficacy of Hemp derived CBD is less than from Cannabis. Any thoughts? Thanks!
I’ve been struggling with sleep for almost a decade. I started with over-the-counter pills for sleep, then moved to Xanax for sleep. The Xanax works like magic to help me sleep. I’d take three 0.5mg and in 30 mins I’d be in a deeep sleep. However, I would like to wing off pills to sleep for my poor liver and just within the last 2 days have came across this CBD alternative. Given how long I’ve been using a sleep aid and amount I take to sleep, what mg would you recommend taking to sleep? I wanna buy the pen. Also, is there different brands, or strains or whatever like there is with THC “regular weed” or is it all pretty much the same and only separated by MG amount? If there is a different strain of these oils which one is best for pain and for insomnia?
The consequences of sleep deficiency include multiple adverse outcomes. You can expect deterioration in all aspects of your health and wellbeing. Lack of sleep and/or poor-quality sleep will age you prematurely, compromise your decision making, dramatically decrease your athletic performance, and increase the risk of injury. Alcohol or drug-induced sleep is not the healthy, restorative sleep the mind and body needs either.

CBD can be taken in a few ways. Oil is probably the most popular, but it can also be taken in capsule form, or even as a chocolate or gummy. After a week of taking CBD in oil form every night, it was clear I’d stumbled across something kind of remarkable. I often slept well the first few nights of trying something new before it stopped working its magic, which I partially attribute to the placebo effect. With CBD, however, the good nights of sleep kept on coming.
Subjects were instructed to abstain from alcohol for 24 h and caffeine for at least 24 h before each visit to the laboratory. Subjects who reported having less than 6 h of sleep the previous night were excluded from the trial. After at least 8 h of fasting, subjects were instructed to have a light, standardized meal 2 h before the experiment. For the present study, a randomized, double blind, and crossover model was used. Once one volunteer gave up participating the study, the 26 participants were assessed on two different occasions, in a 2-week interval, with identical procedures except for the substance that was administered. In each visit, participants were first submitted to a cognitive and subjective evaluation, then an oral dose of CBD (300 mg) or placebo was administered 30 min before the polysomnographic recordings began.
Lidicker added that people’s responses have a lot to do with how they personally process the product, and how cannabinoid receptors are distributed throughout the body. This is why it’s also difficult to standardize dosing recommendations for CBD. I was administering 0.5 ml of CBD oil under the tongue about half an hour before bed every night (that was the amount recommended on the bottle), but it’s worth noting that the concentration of cannabidiol may vary by product and that some people require more or less to feel the effects.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a component of Cannabis sativa that has a broad spectrum of potential therapeutic effects in neuropsychiatric and other disorders. However, few studies have investigated the possible interference of CBD on the sleep-wake cycle. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of a clinically anxiolytic dose of CBD on the sleep-wake cycle of healthy subjects in a crossover, double-blind design. Twenty-seven healthy volunteers that fulfilled the eligibility criteria were selected and allocated to receive either CBD (300 mg) or placebo in the first night in a double-blind randomized design (one volunteer withdrew from the study). In the second night, the same procedure was performed using the substance that had not been administered in the previous occasion. CBD or placebo were administered 30 min before the start of polysomnography recordings that lasted 8 h. Cognitive and subjective measures were performed immediately after polysomnography to assess possible residual effects of CBD. The drug did not induce any significant effect (p > 0.05). Different from anxiolytic and antidepressant drugs such as benzodiazepines and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, acute administration of an anxiolytic dose of CBD does not seem to interfere with the sleep cycle of healthy volunteers. The present findings support the proposal that CBD do not alter normal sleep architecture. Future studies should address the effects of CBD on the sleep-wake cycle of patient populations as well as in clinical trials with larger samples and chronic use of different doses of CBD. Such studies are desirable and opportune.

I work well under pressure, but being extremely busy at work has almost made me less productive—I'm constantly distracted by email, Slack, and the people around me, to the point where getting my work done becomes difficult. I have been totally off the effexor and all anti-depressants for 2 weeks now. The dizziness is getting much better however my emotions/agitation are horrible. I cry at everything and am extremely crabby/agitated. I realize most of this has to do with the withdrawal. I really want to see this through to find out if I can live without anti-depressants but at the same time I know it's very hard on my family. I have another doctor appt beginning of April and she says that if I don't feel better by then I most likely will need to go back on an anti-depressant. For the most part I agree with her. My hopes of proving her wrong as getting slim however. I'd like to know how long it took some of you who have withdrawn from anti-depressants to feel somewhat 'normal' or you knew you had to go back on them? I guess I'm asking if another month is a good amount of time for me to determine what I should do. In some ways I feel like I should start on them again now but I'm not going there yet? BTW, I am in no way feeling suicidal. Mornings seem to be my worst time and by early evenings I feel somewhat better – is this strange too? I haven't tried the CBD living water yet but did find a place near me to get it. Just havent had the time to get there. I also have the Ativan which I take one night to help with sleep. I'm trying not to take it unless really necessary. If you feel you need to increase, do so in about the same increments as from week 1 to week 2 to week 3. Remember, you can not overdose or go wrong so don’t stress about this at all. Fortunately, the party stopped at my friends and most people left, leaving us to just hang out and chat for a bit (which is what I wanted).  At some point during the night I was cajoled into drinking a couple of beers (not something I’d normally agree to), but was trying to live it up for once.  Comparatively, I’d say that the beer helped more than the CBD in terms of taking the anxious “edge off.”

A friend texted me to hang out while I was grocery shopping and I replied yeah (not something I normally would’ve done).  On my drive to the grocery store I felt completely calm without a major change in alertness or vigilance of my environment.  While I was at the store, I had a pleasant experience, but noticed that my emotions felt slightly subdued again – but the effect wasn’t extreme.

In other words, most people seeking immediate relief from anxiety will likely feel significantly less anxious after using CBD than if they had ingested a placebo.  Placebo-controlled studies have already documented the efficacy of acute CBD administration for anxiety.

I use to smoke marijuana until one day I smoked something very strong & I was so paranoid it was scary so I stopped smoking (this was before I was pregnant) well after I had my baby this past December my anxiety & panic attacks are coming back strong again. I feel warm feeling in my head and pain lower part of the back of my head, dizziness, nausea, mind racing, heart palpitations & shaky & etc I’ve experienced a lot & I’ve been checked for everything & I am healthy I just need to exercise more I’ve even had a mri & ct scan & they saw nothing wrong.. I’m tired of this I cannot keep living like this. Everyday I’m scared to do anything. I have been on prescription medication for insomnia. It is called Lunesta. I would like some advise on how to get off this medication by using CBD oil. I am cutting the medication is half each night and using CBD gummies with it. I am not getting very good results.Any advice on this would be appreciated. I tried 40 milligrams of the CBD gummies and half of a 3 milligram Lunesta..I couldnt get to sleep until about 3 in the morning. Help please

PPAR agonism: Agonism of PPARs (peroxisome proliferator activated receptors) may have a variety of benefits including: anticancer, neuroprotective (via removal of beta-amyloid plaques), and antipsychotic effects.  Cannabidiol bolsters PPAR-alpha signaling and simultaneously decreases inflammation.  Although PPAR agonism may not directly foster an anxiolytic effect, it cannot be ruled out as a potential synergistic contributor.


Cost: For high quality, unadulterated CBD – you’re going to pay a hefty price. Assuming you don’t want a product with pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, and/or other chemical additives, you’ll likely end up paying a significant amount for just a few doses.  Until scientists figure out a way to enhance CBD’s bioavailability, regular users of oral CBD may feel as if the supplement is too costly.  Fortunately, there are other ways to administer cannabidiol such as vaporizing the oil – which will likely save consumers money.
The World Health Organization takes a similar stance, saying there is no evidence of abuse potential or harm associated with the use of pure CBD. The good news is that most of the official research done on CBD oil has shown that there are very few negative side effects from using it. However, CBD is not without some side effects. Most notably, in the clinical studies for epilepsy, sedation was one of the more common side effects. Decreased appetite and diarrhea were also seen in some patients. Depending on what other medicines they are taking, certain patients may need to have periodic blood tests to check on liver function.
According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, cannabis use for medicinal purposes dates back at least 3,000 years. It was introduced into Western medicine in the 1840s by W.B. O’Shaughnessy, a surgeon who learned of its medicinal properties while working in India for the British East Indies Co. It became useful because of its analgesic, sedative, anti-inflammatory, anti-spasmodic and anti-convulsant effects.

However, a standout amongst the most well-known approaches to expend cannabidiol is still through CBD oil. It is possible that acute administration may attenuate anxiety, but chronic administration may not.  Some individuals may become tolerant to the effects of CBD when administered chronically and/or may find that it worsens their anxiety.
McGuire published his own study in August, in which CBD was shown to reduce psychotic episodes in people with schizophrenia. The daily dose was 1,000mg of pure CBD. And a study in which CBD seemed to ease anxiety, published in Nature in 2011, administered a single dose of 600mg, an hour and a half before giving participants a public speaking task. These larger doses contrast with that found in, say, Botanical Labs’ CBD drink. Rebekah Hall, the company’s founder, says her drink is for recreational rather than medicinal purposes and “the amount of CBD per batch is constant and precise, at 2mg per bottle”. A daily dose of two hemp capsules made by Nature’s Plus offers 15mg of mixed “plant cannabinoids” without a specific CBD count.
