In a study whose findings have not yet been published, he and a colleague, Daniel Friedman, found that patients receiving CBD in addition to their usual medicines had 39 percent fewer convulsive seizures than patients who remained on their normal drug regimen. Given that the study included only the most treatment-resistant patients, this is an “excellent response,” Devinsky says.
One important thing to clarify is that CBD can be found either in Cannabis plants or hemp. Hemp and marijuana oil fall under the same genus, Cannabis. So marijuana oil refers to either the Cannabis Sativa or Indica plants that are cultivated and grown to produce resinous trichomes. These trichomes contain high levels of tetrahydrocannabinol or THC, so these plants are bred for their psychoactive qualities.
My friend had told me that all I do was use the dropper bottle and place 15 drops under my tongue, and then wait for about 90 seconds before swallowing (it also says this very clearly on the bottle as well). Subjectively, I’d say it took around 15 to 20 minutes before I noticed some sort of an effect; could’ve been shorter or longer (I didn’t have a timer out).  I wasn’t stressed or anxious prior to taking the capsule, so there may not have been as much neurophysiological contrast.  That said, I noticed that I felt psychologically more relaxed and as if I stopped thinking critically about every little thing.

The American public is starting to see the light when it comes to CBD as a safe and effective treatment option for a long list of medical problems. I have/had ovarian/primary peritoneal cancer. I used thc/cbd oil pills I self made from the start. I am supposedly their “poster child”. I went thru with chemo and surgery. Oh that horror! But when I tried to tell two seperate doctors, the surgeon was all about it, and my oncologist threw a fit and said it was an anecdote. There are more than 100 studies at the NIH govt website.

I tried the Green Roads terpenes 100mg. Only took 1-3 drops at a time. Felt nothing. Went back got 350mg and tried 5 drops. No real results. Wonder if I need an entire dropper, not just drops. What do you guys do? I have daily anxiety that can be debilitating. Am I just not taking enough because I’m getting no results. Do I need the 500 mg? Need advice.


Numerous diseases — such as anorexia, emesis, pain, inflammation, multiple sclerosis, neurodegenerative disorders, epilepsy, glaucoma, osteoporosis, schizophrenia, cardiovascular disorders, cancer, obesity and metabolic syndrome-related disorders — are being treated or have the potential to be treated by cannabis oils and other cannabinoid compounds.
Antipsychotic: Those suffering from anxiety as a result of a condition like schizophrenia may benefit from utilization of CBD oil. While the phytocannabinoid THC may exacerbate positive symptoms of schizophrenia (due to its psychotomimetic properties), CBD is understood to have antipsychotic properties.  It isn’t fully elucidated as to how CBD reduces psychotic symptoms, but some believe its indirect modulation of dopaminergic transmission plays a role.

In a series of placebo-controlled studies involving 15 healthy volunteers, Fusar-Poli et al. investigated the effects of CBD and THC on task-related blood-oxygen-level dependent functional magnetic resonance imaging activation, specifically the go/no-go and fearful faces tasks [109, 110]. The go/no-go task measures response inhibition, and is associated with activation of medial prefrontal, dorsolateral prefrontal, and parietal areas [111]. Response activation is diminished in PTSD and other anxiety disorders, and increased activation predicts response to treatment [112]. CBD produced no changes in predicted areas (relative to placebo) but reduced activation in the left insula, superior temporal gyrus, and transverse temporal gyrus. The fearful faces task activates the amygdala, and other medial temporal areas involved in emotion processing, and heightened amygdala response activation has been reported in anxiety disorders, including GAD and PTSD [113, 114]. CBD attenuated blood-oxygen-level dependent activation in the left amygdala, and the anterior and posterior cingulate cortex in response to intensely fearful faces, and also reduced amplitude in skin conductance fluctuation, which was highly correlated with amygdala activation [109]. Dynamic causal modeling analysis in this data set further showed CBD reduced forward functional connectivity between the amygdala and anterior cingulate cortex [110].
I have used the oil, but have found that there is nothing like smoking the flower (bud) I use the Jellyfish brand (CBD, NOT THC) Which is 18.5 CBD and I believe 0.5 TCH. In other words, it is impossible to get you high. There is no psycho-affective effect. When I smoke, just two good hits and I’m good for four or five hours. I suffer from Derealization. Even though it does not make it better, it does not make it worst. What is important is that it calms me down from head to toe. Made a huge difference in my life.

Saw this comment and had to answer. Especially as I get asked this quite frequently. Generally speaking there are dozens of CBD oils on the market. It’s important to go for one that uses a good extraction process (CO2 is preferred) and a brand that has a good reputation. From a medical point of view we are still not 100% sure of the effects but we know that CBD has fewer side effects than opioids or other anti-inflammatory drugs. It’s important though to consult with your primary physician before using any sort of medication.
