A study conducted by Martin-Santos et al. On the other hand, a 2017 comprehensive review of CBD studies in psychiatric disorders found inconclusive results. According to the authors, there isn’t enough evidence to claim CBD as a treatment for depression. However, the authors do note positive results for anxiety disorders. Based on their review, more human tests are needed to better understand how it works, what ideal dosages should be, and if there are potential side effects or hazards.
Therefore, it is important to realize that potency of CBD oil that you attain will be subject to variation based on the sourcing and its formatting.  Additionally, there’s no way to recommend an “optimal” universal dose for all types of anxiety as different dosages may be necessary based on the specific subtype of anxiety disorder.  For example, a person with PTSD may require a slightly different dose than someone with social phobia.

A typical range for CBD is 10 – 20 mg of oral doses. CBD products are not very strain focused, so people typically just look at the mg of CBD when making a decision. I tried the Green Roads terpenes 100mg. Only took 1-3 drops at a time. Felt nothing. Went back got 350mg and tried 5 drops. No real results. Wonder if I need an entire dropper, not just drops. What do you guys do? I have daily anxiety that can be debilitating. Am I just not taking enough because I’m getting no results. Do I need the 500 mg? Need advice.
I’m the same about taking any medication in case it makes me feel dizzy or light headed, which would then lead to massive anxiety. I am excited at my first bottle of CBD oil arriving in the post but I know I will put off taking it until I feel brave enough. I have been advised to just have one drop at a time and not the 15 that I see others take per dose. I would also like to take it daily as I do my vitamin B tablets. Thoughts anyone please?
It was actually a bad bout of jet lag after a trip to California that inspired me to finally test out the CBD oil (I'll admit that my weed-based reservations kept me from trying it for the first few months). Knowing that the oil had also helped people with sleep issues, I squeezed one full dropper of the Everyday Plus oil onto my tongue, per the instructions, and waited.

We found no differences between CBD and placebo in respect to polysomnographic findings or cognitive and subjective measures in a sample of healthy subjects. Unlike widely used anxiolytic and antidepressant drugs such as benzodiazepines and SSRIs, the acute administration of an anxiolytic dose of CBD does not appear to interfere with the sleep cycle of healthy volunteers. Future studies should address the effects of CBD on the sleep-wake cycle of patient populations as well as evaluate the chronic effects of CBD in larger samples of patients with sleep and neuropsychiatric disorders.


All exposure to restraint stress resulted in increased blood pressure and heart rate, thereby significantly increasing anxiety in the elevated plus-maze 24 hour.  However, administration of CBD alleviated the anxiety associated with the elevated plus-maze.  Prior administration of the 5-HT1A antagonist inhibited the therapeutic effects of the cannabidiol.

A review published in 2017 in the journal Frontiers in Pharmacology described how CBD may work to protect the hippocampus — the part of the brain responsible for several important functions, such as learning, memory and navigation — during times of stress, and may also help prevent brain-cell destruction that results from schizophrenia. Another 2017 review published in the journal Annals of Palliative Medicine summarized a handful of studies that suggest cannabis oils containing THC or CBD, or both, may help with chronic pain management, but the mechanism is unclear.
