To compare the efficacy of the aforestated agents in reducing anxiety associated with the simulated public speaking task, researchers collected measures using the VAMS (Visual Analogue Mood Scale) and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI).  Comparatively, ipsapirone (5mg) reduced anxiety induced by the simulated public speaking task, whereas CBD (400 mg) only decreased anxiety after the task.  Valium (10 mg) reduced anxiety before and after the simulated public speaking task, but didn’t decrease anxiety during the speaking.

Hi. I really do believe it depends on the mg & ratio of the CBD to THC. My first try at high CBD : low THC tincture oil was with Humboldt Anthropology 16:1. I started off with 2 drops twice a day after 3 days I went to 4 drops twice a day. After a few daysof that I went up to 6 drops and then 8 drops and then 10 drops twice a day. 10 drops twice a day was a perfect dosage for me. FINALLY no pondering worries or fears from all the “what if’s”. If I didn’t want to think about something I had control over not thinking about it. It was an amazing feeling. It was complete FREEDOM. Sadly the dispensary I use no longer has the Humboldt Anthropology 16:1 tincture. Last week I moved on to my first trial with a different brand. They recommend Jayden Juice 28:1 tincture 2 to 3 drops twice a day. Very 1st dose tried 4 drops(because I was up to 10 with my other tincture) and felt weird. Kinda spaced or like a head change. Not sure if it was my tincture or the fear (my anxiety) of trying something different. Didn’t like that feeling one bit. My second dose for the day I took 2 drops. With that said I took 2 drops twice a day for a couple of days. I could feel the anxiety stirring around within me. That warm tingling feeling in my chest and arms. All the “what if” thoughts are far off in the back ground of my mind. Crazy thing because I haven’t felt that feeling in over a year while taking Humboldt Anthropology 16:1 even after the passing of our son this past Aug. As of yesterday I started 3 drops twice a day with the Jayden Juice 28:1 that I currently have. Praying that I can make this work for me. $80 for .05 oz is a tad pricey, “what if” it doesn’t work for me.

Overall, current evidence indicates CBD has considerable potential as a treatment for multiple anxiety disorders, with need for further study of chronic and therapeutic effects in relevant clinical populations.
Safety: As of current, there’s zero evidence to suggest that cannabidiol is unsafe and/or intolerable. While certain individuals may experience adverse effects from its administration, these adverse effects are not common and may be a result of: poor sourcing, formatting, addition of other unwanted chemicals or cannabinoids, or contamination.  Most research indicates CBD is just as safe and well-tolerated as a placebo.

Increased anxiety: Rodents administered cannabidiol daily for 14 days exhibited anxiogenic behaviors. In other words, the cannabidiol may increase anxiety when used too regularly.  Although this effect cannot be confirmed in humans, it is logical to assume that a person’s neurophysiology will adapt to the effects of CBD when used regularly, possibly blunting its efficacy.
One of the earliest researchers of CBD as an intervention for anxiety is Zuardi.  In 1982, Zuardi et al. published a paper examining the effects of cannabidiol on anxiety induced by THC.  They also wanted to elucidate whether the attenuation of THC-induced anxiety by CBD resulted from an inhibition of THC or through a distinct anxiolytic mechanism.
Hi Diane, how did you go on with the CBD oil please. If it worked how long before you saw any results. I'm scared of flaring everything. Nerve damage across buttocks from a surgeon who found the nerve stuck to the bulge during a laminectomy operation and prised it off. I haven't sat for 5 years and getting worse. If he had his way, what Mechoulam regards as the often irresponsible silliness of recreational pot culture would give way to an earnest and enthusiastic embrace of cannabis—but only as a medical substance to be strictly regulated and relentlessly researched. “Right now,” he complains, “people don’t know what they’re getting. For it to work in the medical world, it has to be quantitative. If you can’t count it, it’s not science.”
It's also safe to take up to 1,500 milligrams of CBD, according to a study published in Neurotherapeutics, which means there's not much risk—and maybe a fair amount to gain—in dosing yourself before bed. So over the course of two weeks, I experimented with four different kinds of CBD to see how it would affect my sleep. I took each one at the same time each night and each type for three nights. Here's what went down:

CB1 + CB2 receptor (inverse agonist): Most evidence suggests that CBD oil has a low affinity for CB1 and CB2 receptor sites as an inverse agonist.  In other words, it binds to the CB1 and CB2 receptors but exerts the pharmacologically opposite effect to an agonist.  This differs from a CB1/CB2 antagonist which solely binds to these receptors and blocks stimulation from endocannabinoids.
I still have the same bottle that my friend gave me, and at the rate that I’m going I imagine it will be lasting me a really long time. If (when) I do run out, though, I’ll certainly be ordering another bottle of the same exact thing. I’m sure there are lots of other good brands out there, but my experience with the 300 mg Pure Kana was about as good as I could have hoped for, so I don’t see any reason to try anything different (I think the 600 mg and 1000 mg bottles are more suited for pain relief, i.e. arthritis, inflammation, etc). I also think that if you are looking to treat pain, you will have to take it more frequently that what I do.

Further studies using higher doses supported a lack of anxiolytic effects at baseline [101, 107]. By contrast, CBD potently reduces experimentally induced anxiety or fear. CBD reduced anxiety associated with a simulated public speaking test in healthy subjects, and in subjects with SAD, showing a comparable efficacy to ipsapirone (a 5-HT1AR agonist) or diazepam [98, 105]. CBD also reduced the presumed anticipatory anxiety associated with undergoing a single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) imaging procedure, in both healthy and SAD subjects [102, 104]. Finally, CBD enhanced extinction of fear memories in healthy volunteers: specifically, inhaled CBD administered prior to or after extinction training in a contextual fear conditioning paradigm led to a trend-level enhancement in the reduction of skin conductance response during reinstatement, and a significant reduction in expectancy (of shock) ratings during reinstatement [106].
I have dealt with anxiety for about 20 years. About 5 years ago I had a panic attack for the first time and it was such a horrible feeling. I was on anxiety medicine after that and it delinquent helped with panic but not anxiety really. I got off medicine a month and a half ago and had a panic attack last week. CBD exerts several actions in the brain that explain why it could be effective in treating anxiety. Before we dive in, it’s important to note that most research describing how CBD works is preclinical and based on animal studies. As the saying goes, “mice are not men” — and, results from animal studies don’t always neatly transfer to human therapies. However, preclinical studies provide insights that move us in the right direction:
