In my second experience with CBD, I decided that I needed to double up the dose to determine whether I could enhance the anxiolytic effect.  Keep in mind that this was weeks after my first administration with zero CBD usage in between.  This time I decided to take 2 capsules of the BioCBD+ in the evening at around 6:00 PM prior to grocery shopping.

I have a a couple of questions regarding CBD Oils. I suffer from GAD (General Anxiety Disorder) and am under medication. However, Im planning to withdraw these meds little by little because i don’t want to depend on them anymore. I’m actually very interested on CBD Oils and want to give it a try, but is there a way I can try it and still be under my med on low doses at the same time? or should i withdraw them completely? the effects of withdrawing my med at once will hurt me so bad that I can get sick so thats why Im trying to lower my doses. I know any of you will tell me ask your doctor, but of course she who is my psychiatrist will tell me dont go for it. In general regular doctors wont suggest to go for alternative remedies which I hate. I would love to know your suggestions. Thanks

My friend had told me that all I do was use the dropper bottle and place 15 drops under my tongue, and then wait for about 90 seconds before swallowing (it also says this very clearly on the bottle as well). I actually went in front of a mirror to administer the drops, so I could count exactly how much I was putting in (you really don’t need to do this though because you can kind of feel the drops as they hit your mouth and count how many you’re putting in that way).
The CBD oil needs to be taken twice a day everyday. The dosage depends on symptoms and it takes 30 days to awken your natural cannabis system after you begin taking the oil. I personally use Hemp works CBD oil in the 750 strength and only need 5 drops sublingual 2 times daily and results are many. Problem with oil and alz.patients is getting them to hold oil under tongue for 60 seconds. We have just began to get my dad on it. He too is in a nursing home in the state of florida and they cannot deny him any medication my mom has requested that he receive. If she is not their they are supposed to administer and she will call them to make sure he gets it. He is not 30 days into dosing yet so I don't have any results to speak of. I do know that since he has started he has had no more bladder infection and has not fallen in 3 weeks. That's a record for him so we will continue to monitor. Here’s my experience: started with insomnia in 2011 that led up to a vicious circle insomnia/anxiety/depression. Took all kinds of sleeping pills/benzodiazepines for around 3-4 years straight until I decided to stop. Yoga, meditation, binaural beats, smoking pot, you name it. I started reading about CBD like 2 months ago and decided to give it a try. I live in Europe so I was able to get my hands in a product that’s a mix of CBD and melatonin. So far it has been working great if I take it after exercising for around 1 hour at the gym. It works well but in moments of high stress it has no effects at all. As soon as I get worried about anything, or if I get sick I’m not able to sleep at all even if I take the whole bottle of CBD oil, I honestly don’t know why, I guess it’s very “mental” but in general I sleep very well after taking CBD oil.

Hash oil or cannabis oil is an oleoresin obtained by the extraction of cannabis or hashish. It is a concentrated form of the plant containing many of its resins and terpenes – in particular, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), cannabidiol (CBD), and other cannabinoids. There are a variety of extraction methods, but most involve a solvent such as butane or ethanol. Relevant studies are summarized in Table ​Table2.2. The anxiolytic effects of CBD in humans were first demonstrated in the context of reversing the anxiogenic effects of THC. CBD reduced THC-induced anxiety when administered simultaneously with this agent, but had no effect on baseline anxiety when administered alone [99, 100]. Further studies using higher doses supported a lack of anxiolytic effects at baseline [101, 107]. By contrast, CBD potently reduces experimentally induced anxiety or fear. CBD reduced anxiety associated with a simulated public speaking test in healthy subjects, and in subjects with SAD, showing a comparable efficacy to ipsapirone (a 5-HT1AR agonist) or diazepam [98, 105]. CBD also reduced the presumed anticipatory anxiety associated with undergoing a single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) imaging procedure, in both healthy and SAD subjects [102, 104]. Finally, CBD enhanced extinction of fear memories in healthy volunteers: specifically, inhaled CBD administered prior to or after extinction training in a contextual fear conditioning paradigm led to a trend-level enhancement in the reduction of skin conductance response during reinstatement, and a significant reduction in expectancy (of shock) ratings during reinstatement [106].
Has anyone done the math? How much could 40mg of CBD cost/night? How much would 160mg cost? The problem is the recommended dose and doses available on the market do not jive. Why the discrepancy between dose recommended by researchers and dose available in the products? Will higher CBD oils be available in the future? For me, right now it would cost $90 to get to sleep on CBD. Totally unrealistic.
While there are more unknowns than knowns at this point, Grant says he doesn’t discount all the anecdotal CBD reports. “You hear somebody say, ‘Hey, I gave this to myself and my kid and we feel a lot better,’ and we should never dismiss that kind of information,” he says. Maybe if I had stuck with one type of CBD for the whole two weeks, my body would have become more adjusted to it and I would have noticed more dramatic effects. While it was certainly relaxing (most nights), it wasn't a miracle sleep aid. If my struggle to fall asleep ever became a more serious problem, I'd probably head to a doctor to talk dosages and other options. But in the meantime, I'll be using it on those stress-y kind of nights that require a literal chill pill before bed.
GPR55 antagonism: GPR55 (G-protein-coupled receptor 55) is a receptor expressed predominantly within the caudate nucleus and putamen.  It is often referenced as an atypical cannabinoid receptor due to the fact that it is activated by cannabinoids.  A study published in 2015 investigated the role of GPR55 function in anxiety.  Researchers concluded that GPR55 may modulate anxiety-related behaviors in rats.  In the study, it was discovered that GPR55 antagonists lead to increased anxiety.  Cannabidiol is thought to act as a GPR55 antagonist which may improve bone health and decrease proliferation of cancer cells – but may not help anxiety.

Interactions: CBD, especially when ingested at high doses, may interact with other pharmacological agents, including prescription drugs. Cannabidiol inhibits CYP450 isoenzymes in the liver which means it may be contraindicated with drugs like Warfarin.  Researchers should attempt to understand the full-spectrum of CBD interactions and refine usage guidelines for those taking other medications.
Hey Frank. Indeed there is some exciting research on the effect of CBD on serotonin related receptors. I completely understand why you want to know the ideal dose to take for this purpose. However, it’s not possible for me to provide dosing recommendations. Most people start off by taking the serving size listed on the CBD product they are using. From there, they either decrease or gradually increase the dose as needed. I know that’s not a specific answer but I hope it helps a little. I have dealt with anxiety for about 20 years. About 5 years ago I had a panic attack for the first time and it was such a horrible feeling. I was on anxiety medicine after that and it delinquent helped with panic but not anxiety really. I got off medicine a month and a half ago and had a panic attack last week. Since then I have been feeling panicky daily.


If you’re just diving into the world of CBD, we recommend a starting serving size of two to three milligrams. From there, you can work your way up to 100 or even 200 milligrams, after you’ve taken the time to gradually observe how CBD affects your body and mind. Remember, you cannot overdose on CBD, and there are no reported side effects from using high concentrations.
Sample sizes: As was already mentioned, the sample sizes used to test the effects of CBD for anxiety were relatively small-scale. Although the results from these small-scale studies may be accurate, larger-scale trials (with larger sample sizes) are warranted to confirm preliminary outcomes.  A therapeutic effect found in just 10-20 patients may not hold up in a group of several hundred.

While normally I'd be slightly tripped up by little things like an overly crowded subway car or a full inbox at work, the CBD oil seems to have taken the edge off of my anxiety a bit. Rather than overthinking a sternly worded email or analyzing a social interaction, I've found it easier to recognize the irrationality of these thoughts and actually let them go (instead of ruminating on the situation). In some ways, I feel more like myself. With that said, I've still experienced some social anxiety when meeting new groups of people—I'd be interested to see what taking the full recommended dose would do.

About 6 years ago I started taking Citalopram antidepressant, and all my anxiety/panic attacks went away. I only had it again recently during my withdrawal process. I know my relief from anxiety is from the Citalopram. I even did 7 zip lines in Costa Rica a little over a year ago. My flights there, to Panama and back were anxiety free. That has been so incredible for me! I love traveling now.

I have/had ovarian/primary peritoneal cancer. I used thc/cbd oil pills I self made from the start. I am supposedly their “poster child”. I went thru with chemo and surgery. Oh that horror! But when I tried to tell two seperate doctors, the surgeon was all about it, and my oncologist threw a fit and said it was an anecdote. There are more than 100 studies at the NIH govt website.
Results indicated that CBD significantly reduced subjective measures of anxiety as evidenced by changes in VAMS scores.  Neuroimaging data revealed decreased ECD-tracer uptake when participants received the CBD compared to when they took the placebo.  Particularly, activity in the left amygdala-hippocampal complex and the left posterior cingulate gyrus decreased following CBD administration.

Limited results in healthy subjects also support the efficacy of CBD in acutely enhancing fear extinction, suggesting potential for the treatment of PTSD, or for enhancing cognitive behavioral therapy. Neuroimaging findings provide evidence of neurobiological targets that may underlie CBD’s anxiolytic effects, including reduced amygdala activation and altered medial prefrontal amygdala connectivity, although current findings are limited by small sample sizes, and a lack of independent replication. Further studies are also required to establish whether chronic, in addition to acute CBD dosing is anxiolytic in human. Also, clinical findings are currently limited to SAD, whereas preclinical evidence suggests CBD’s potential to treat multiple symptom domains relevant to GAD, PD, and, particularly, PTSD.
