It’s important to note that each state has its own individual laws on possession limits. Many states now have their own laws on the books for CBD oil specifically. Tennessee, for example, has made cannabis oil legal if it’s derived from hemp rather than marijuana. As Professor Elliot Altman of the Botanical Medical Research Center at Middle Tennessee State University, explains, “The legal definition is hemp is less than point three percent THC which is the psychotropic agent. To this point, CBD oil has existed in a kind of liminal space— at once an illegal drug, a legal medication, and some kind of “dietary” supplement. It’s possible this could change in the coming years, however. GW Pharmaceuticals, a U.K.-based firm, has developed a “pure CBD” medication called Epidiolex that has shown promising test results. This summer, in Wired magazine, writer Fred Vogelstein chronicled his family’s own struggles to find an effective treatment for his son’s epilepsy—including experiments with hemp oil— and the immense hurdles they overcame to gain access to Epidiolex prior to its FDA approval. The drug could be for sale on pharmacy shelves in the near future, though exactly how near is hard to say.
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a component of Cannabis sativa that has a broad spectrum of potential therapeutic effects in neuropsychiatric and other disorders. However, few studies have investigated the possible interference of CBD on the sleep-wake cycle. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of a clinically anxiolytic dose of CBD on the sleep-wake cycle of healthy subjects in a crossover, double-blind design. Twenty-seven healthy volunteers that fulfilled the eligibility criteria were selected and allocated to receive either CBD (300 mg) or placebo in the first night in a double-blind randomized design (one volunteer withdrew from the study). In the second night, the same procedure was performed using the substance that had not been administered in the previous occasion. CBD or placebo were administered 30 min before the start of polysomnography recordings that lasted 8 h. Cognitive and subjective measures were performed immediately after polysomnography to assess possible residual effects of CBD. The drug did not induce any significant effect (p > 0.05). Different from anxiolytic and antidepressant drugs such as benzodiazepines and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, acute administration of an anxiolytic dose of CBD does not seem to interfere with the sleep cycle of healthy volunteers. The present findings support the proposal that CBD do not alter normal sleep architecture. Future studies should address the effects of CBD on the sleep-wake cycle of patient populations as well as in clinical trials with larger samples and chronic use of different doses of CBD. Such studies are desirable and opportune.
Whatever the case, if you suffer from anxiety, panic attacks, depression, or insomnia, I would absolutely recommend you give a quality CBD oil a shot. I was certainly not quick to buy into the whole hype machine (I know that the cannabis industry is pretty crazy right now), but I can say as a first time user that it legitimately did work, and it caused absolutely no high or side effects whatsoever.

You should always start low with just tiny drops. Each tiny drop is about the size of a grain of rice. Try 2 tiny drops under tongue for 4 days. If no results, do 4 tiny drops for 4 days. If no results, do 6 tiny drops for 4 days and so on. It’s true that everybody is different. You have to play around until you get the dose that’s right for you. We have found that if we take too much, it does nothing and we just waste money. I use the Elixinol 3600 for sleep and I take 6 drops. My son uses Charlotte’s Web for PTSD and he takes a 1/4 dropper in morning and 1/4 dropper at night. I use Elixinol 3600 for my 95 year old with vascular dementia and I give him 6 drops about 3 or 4 times a day to help with confusion and prevent sundowners. He sleeps ALL night long!!!!

Hi. I really do believe it depends on the mg & ratio of the CBD to THC. My first try at high CBD : low THC tincture oil was with Humboldt Anthropology 16:1. I started off with 2 drops twice a day after 3 days I went to 4 drops twice a day. After a few daysof that I went up to 6 drops and then 8 drops and then 10 drops twice a day. 10 drops twice a day was a perfect dosage for me. FINALLY no pondering worries or fears from all the “what if’s”. If I didn’t want to think about something I had control over not thinking about it. It was an amazing feeling. It was complete FREEDOM. Sadly the dispensary I use no longer has the Humboldt Anthropology 16:1 tincture. Last week I moved on to my first trial with a different brand. They recommend Jayden Juice 28:1 tincture 2 to 3 drops twice a day. Very 1st dose tried 4 drops(because I was up to 10 with my other tincture) and felt weird. Kinda spaced or like a head change. Not sure if it was my tincture or the fear (my anxiety) of trying something different. Didn’t like that feeling one bit. My second dose for the day I took 2 drops. With that said I took 2 drops twice a day for a couple of days. I could feel the anxiety stirring around within me. That warm tingling feeling in my chest and arms. All the “what if” thoughts are far off in the back ground of my mind. Crazy thing because I haven’t felt that feeling in over a year while taking Humboldt Anthropology 16:1 even after the passing of our son this past Aug. As of yesterday I started 3 drops twice a day with the Jayden Juice 28:1 that I currently have. Praying that I can make this work for me. $80 for .05 oz is a tad pricey, “what if” it doesn’t work for me.

One important thing to clarify is that CBD can be found either in Cannabis plants or hemp. Hemp and marijuana oil fall under the same genus, Cannabis. So marijuana oil refers to either the Cannabis Sativa or Indica plants that are cultivated and grown to produce resinous trichomes. These trichomes contain high levels of tetrahydrocannabinol or THC, so these plants are bred for their psychoactive qualities.
The Green roads CBD didn’t work for me at all. The CBD is mixed with glycerine & it doesn’t come out of the dropper well at all so it’s hard to know how much you are getting. Plus I think glycerine is not a good carrier at all. A simple coconut oil mix would work much better for absorption. I think there are much better options for your money! Really disappointed:(

A 2007 review published in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine found that smoking marijuana resulted in similar declines in respiratory system health as smoking tobacco. A similar review published in 2014 in The American Journal of Cardiology found that marijuana smoke inhalation can increase the chances of heart attack or stroke. Neither review analyzed the effects of vaping cannabis oil alone, so it's unclear if it has the same health risks as smoking other marijuana products.
